What is Laser Genesis?
The Laser Genesis procedure utilises noninvasive laser technology to safely, naturally and effectively treat fine line wrinkles, diffuse redness, rosacea and scars. The popular anti-ageing and collagen stimulating procedure can be performed on a lunch break with minimal downtime. Laser Genesis involves the gentle heating of the upper dermis, just below the surface of the skin. This heating stimulates the formation of new collagen and elastin which reduces the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles. The appearance of enlarged pores, acne and other scars, uneven skin tone and texture, redness and vessels may also be improved.
What does treatment with Laser Genesis feel like?
What can I expect during and after my treatment?
Prior to your treatment with Laser Genesis your dermal therapist will cleanse and prepare your face and remove all of your make-up and moisturiser. No numbing or anaesthetic creams or gels are required for Laser Genesis treatment, and in fact many people describe the treatment as a pleasant or soothing warmth. Treatment with Laser Genesis typically takes thirty minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. After the treatment, your dermal therapist will help you apply post-treatment skin products and ensure that you understand the post-treatment care instructions. You may notice some slight warmth and redness, but this typically disappears after a few hours.
Is there any downtime after treatment with Laser Genesis?
Treatment with Laser Genesis typically has a very short down-time, and most people find that they are able to return to work or their regular activities immediately. After the treatment, your dermal therapist will help you apply post-treatment skin products and ensure that you understand the post-treatment care instructions. You may notice some slight warmth and redness, but this typically disappears after a few hours, and is usually able to be disguised underneath the post-treatment skin products that your dermal therapist will apply.
Is treatment with Laser Genesis only for women? What about men?
At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we understand that there is more and more pressure for men to look younger. We know that you want to look your natural best. Our service is discreet and confidential, so why not contact Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, or come in and discuss treatment with Laser Genesis with our professional staff?
Is my skin type suitable for laser treatment?
At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we recognise that all patients require individually tailored treatment plans, and that that one size does not fit all. Your safety is our highest priority, and unfortunately not everyone’s skin type may be suitable for all types of laser treatments. In particular, darker skin types containing more melanin (the dark pigment in skin) may be more prone to side effects and particularly difficult to treat with certain laser types. Even a recent tan can make your skin more difficult to treat! However, that does not necessarily mean that you cannot have a laser treatment. Your highly trained clinician will discuss the options with you: these may involve having treatment with a lower powered laser, breaking the treatment up into more sessions, using a different laser type altogether, or in some cases using another, non-laser based therapy to achieve your treatment goals.
How many treatments are required?
Many patients will begin to experience the Laser Genesis difference after only one treatment, although for the maximum results as many as four to six treatments are recommended. The maximum effect of treatment is usually seen after eight to twelve weeks. Your highly trained clinician will discuss your likely treatment course and cost during your initial assessment.
Can treatment with Laser Genesis be combined with other treatments?
Treatment with Laser Genesis may be performed alone, or may be combined with Photo-LED Therapy, which may accelerate the healing and rejuvenation process and lead to faster, longer lasting results. A series of Laser Genesis treatments, in conjunction with Dermafrac, microdermabrasion or chemical peels and occurring over a period of weeks or months, may be recommended by your dermal therapist.
How much does treatment with Laser Genesis cost?
Different skin conditions and different skin areas respond differently to treatment with Laser Genesis. Many patients will begin to experience the Laser Genesis difference after only one treatment, although for the maximum results as many as four to six treatments are recommended. The cost of treatment will depend on the size of the area treated and the number of treatments required. Your highly trained clinician will discuss your likely treatment course and cost during your initial assessment.
Do I need a test patch?
Every individual’s skin is unique. Every skin condition can be approached in a number of ways with various laser modalities, and reactions among individuals can vary greatly. Our highly trained dermal clinicians are experts in laser science and the treatment options available; in some instances, your therapist may decide that testing a small patch of skin prior to your treatment is a necessary safety precaution. This can be the case even if you had previously had treatment elsewhere, as the safety and success of your treatment are a priority at Evolve. If our dermal therapists recommend that you have a test patch, the cost of this initial consultation is redeemable from the price of your first treatment.
I am pregnant or breast feeding.
Can I still be treated?
At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, your safety and the safety of your loved ones is our highest priority. Whilst laser treatments have been studied extensively for both their safety and effectiveness, at Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we follow the industry best-practice standards of not treating during pregnancy or during breast feeding. Your qualified dermal clinician can advise you on treatment alternatives to enable you to continue working towards your aesthetic goals throughout your pregnancy and while you are breast feeding.
I have a medical condition.
Can I still have a treatment?
Laser Genesis is a very safe treatment. However, if you have an existing or poorly controlled medical condition it may be safer to postpone your treatment. Anyone who is hypersensitive to light should not be treated with Laser Genesis. This includes some autoimmune disorders (lupus), vitamin b3 deficiency (pellegra), porphyria, vitiligo, a history of keloid scarring or patients on steroid medications, blood thinning medications or gold therapy for arthritis. Our highly trained staff will discuss your suitability for treatment during your free assessment.
