Collagen growth & to remodel scarring
What is Dermapen Skin-Needling?
Dermapen is the latest evolution in the “skin-needling” method of skin rejuvenation. Skin-needling is a method of causing controlled micro-trauma to the skin in order to stimulate a natural, organic process of wound healing which acts to enhance collagen formation and rejuvenate the skin.
Unlike older methods of treatment, which may be imprecise, Dermapen is a medically engineered device in which multiple surgical grade micro-needles, in a single use disposable cartridge, penetrate the skin in a precise and rapid fashion. Dermapen® is a rapid treatment for the face and body.
What conditions can be treated with Dermapen?
Treatment with Dermapen has many applications, but the most commonly treated conditions include fine lines and wrinkles and other visible signs of ageing, dull skin, uneven skin colour and tone, scars (including acne scars, caesarean section and other post-surgical or traumatic scars), skin pigmentation, enlarged pores, striae (“stretch marks”) and rosacea. If you have any questions regarding which conditions may be treated with Dermapen, feel free to contact our highly trained staff, or discuss them with an Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine staff member at your initial consultation.
Can I combine treatment with Dermapen with other treatments?
Treatment with DermaPen® may improve the results and duration of other treatments including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. It is therefore common to include DermaPen® as part of an individualised treatment plan which includes anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. It is recommended that you have not had treatments with anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers for at least two weeks prior to treatment with DermaPen®. If you have any questions regarding an individualised treatment plan which includes DermaPen, feel free to discuss them with an Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine staff member at your initial consultation. Dermapen treatments may also be combined with Photo-LED Therapy, which may accelerate the healing and rejuvenation process and lead to faster, longer lasting results.
What does treatment with Dermapen feel like?
Everyone has different experiences, however treatment with Dermapen is rapid and discomfort is minimal. The highly trained staff at Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine can adjust the treatment depth if you find that you are becoming too uncomfortable. The application of a local anaesthetic cream to the skin prior to treatment will also greatly minimise your discomfort.
Is there any downtime after treatment with Dermapen?
If it is your first treatment with Dermapen, it may be best be treated at the end of the day, or prior to the weekend. You will be given a cooling gel face mask and hydration cream to go home with.
You should rest, stay out of the sun and stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. After the first treatment, most people find that they recover much more quickly and may even be able to have treatment with Dermapen during a lunch break and return to work after applying the post-treatment anti-bacterial foundation.
How any Dermapen treatments will I need?
Your estimated treatment course can be discussed with an Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine staff member at your initial consultation. Treatments generally occur four to six weeks apart.
