Dermal Fillers & Cosmetic Injections
As we age, we lose volume, fat and collagen in the face – leading to wrinkles, hollows and other visible signs of aging. As the trusted specialists of dermal fillers in Melbourne, Evolve ACM administers cosmetic injections to subtly increase the fullness of tissue in target areas, to lead to an overall more youthful appearance.
Dermal fillers are a prescription-only medication that’s delivered by a registered doctor or nurse at our Melbourne CBD clinic. Every Evolve patient receives a full consultation with a medical doctor prior to the procedure, to discuss the process and determine your suitability. We aim to reverse the main signs of aging, by increasing hydration, enhancing facial contours and restoring volume and fullness to the skin.
Am I a good candidate for cosmetic injectables?
Cosmetic injectables are a non-surgical treatment popular in Melbourne and around the world for their ability to revitalise the skin by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and plumping to replace lost volume. Clients looking to enhance their beauty or restore a more youthful appearance choose Evolve for natural-looking results in a comfortable, discrete environment.
Dermal fillers are commonly used to treat areas such as:
- Lips – to contour the shape and enhance fullness
- Tear troughs – to replace lost volume and address hollows under the eyes
- Temples- to replace lost volume and address hollows above the cheeks
- Nasolabial folds – to smooth “smile lines” running from the nose to the corner of the mouth
- Marionette’s lines – to smooth lines running from the corner of the mouth to the chin

Is there any “down-time” after injections with fillers?
Some patients may also experience mild tenderness or swelling in the injection areas for a few days.
How long do injections with fillers take to start working? How long until I see results?

Can treatment with dermal fillers be combined with other treatments?
It is recommended that you have not had treatments with anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers for at least two weeks prior to treatment with Dermapen®. If you have any questions regarding an individualised treatment plan which includes Dermapen®, feel free to discuss them with an Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine staff member at your initial consultation. Treatment with dermal fillers may also be combined with photo-LED therapy, which may accelerate the healing and rejuvenation process and lead to faster, longer lasting results.
Are injections with fillers only for women? What about men?
Our service is discreet and confidential, so why not contact Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, or come in and discuss treatment with anti-wrinkle injections with our professional staff?
What are the risks of injections with fillers?
Unlike other clinics, where you may only see a doctor via an internet connection, at Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine every patient receives a full consultation with a medical doctor or nurse who will discuss the procedure and your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.
The most common side-effect is a small amount of bruising around the injection site, especially in those who bruise easily. If bruising occurs most patients find that it can easily be covered by makeup until the bruise resolves, which usually takes a few days. Some patients may experience swelling in the face.
All parts of the face can swell, but the lips are the most common area to swell. It will usually settle in twenty-four to seventy-two hours.
A small number of patients may be able to feel small, palpable beads or lumps under the skin; these usually resolve without treatment after a few days. Patients with a history of cold sores are advised to apply acyclovir cream (available over the counter at the chemist) to their lips five times daily for two days post treatment to decrease the chance of cold sores returning.
Your doctor or nurse will discuss this with you in detail with you in your initial consultation. Allergic reactions are also possible after any medication injection, although the likelihood of this is small.
There have also been reports of extremely rare but serious complications in patients having treatment with dermal fillers. Your doctor will discuss these in detail with you in your initial consultation.
What must I do and what must I avoid after having dermal filler injections?
You should also not undertake any strenuous activity or activities which may cause excessive sweating for twenty-four hours. It is recommended to keep your head in an upright position (i.e. Not to lie down with your head flat) for four hours after treatment with dermal filler injections.

I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I be treated with dermal fillers?
Your team can advise you on treatment alternatives to enable you to continue working towards your aesthetic goals throughout your pregnancy and while you are breast feeding.
I have a medical condition. Can I be treated with dermal fillers?
There are a number of reasons why it may be safer to postpone your treatment with dermal filler injections, or to not have treatment at all.
Patients with skin infections or other skin diseases at the site of injection will have to postpone their treatment until the injection site is clear. Some medications (for example, aspirin and warfarin) may lead to increased risk of bleeding and bruising, and it may be safer to avoid dermal filler injections.
I am under 18 years of age. Can I be treated with dermal fillers?
Although dermal filler injections are a cosmetic procedure, it is important to understand that they are still medical procedures, and that some small risks exist, as for any medical procedure. At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine it is our policy not to treat anyone under eighteen years of age with anti-wrinkle injections, even with parental or guardian consent.
