Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti Wrinkle Injections Melbourne

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by injecting a small amount of a prescription-only medication into specific facial muscles. This medication leads to relaxation of the muscles which cause and worsen wrinkles. It is important to remember that anti wrinkle injections are a prescription-only medication, and should only be performed by highly trained doctor or nurse.

Unlike other clinics, where you may only see a doctor via an internet connection, at Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine every patient receives a full consultation with a medical doctor or nurse who will discuss the procedure and your suitability for anti-wrinkle injections.

What areas of the face do you treat?

At Evolve, an aesthetic medical clinic, the most commonly treated areas include “crow’s feet” (wrinkles at the outside edges of the eyes), “worry lines” (wrinkles on the forehead), “frown lines” or “bunny lines” (wrinkles at the top of your nose) and smile lines. It is also possible to inject into some of the “chewing muscles” to give the face a slimmer appearance. This may also aid in preventing grinding of teeth and migraines.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections take to start working? How long until I see results?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing muscles in the target area of the face. These muscles typically take two to five days to relax and minimise the appearance of wrinkles.

Is there any “down-time” after anti-wrinkle injections?

Typically, there is no “down-time” following treatment with anti-wrinkle injections. Some patients, especially those who bruise easily, may experience a small amount of bruising around the injection site; if bruising occurs, most patients find that it can easily be covered by makeup until the bruise resolves, which takes a few days.

Will I achieve natural-looking results?

At Evolve, we know that you want to look your natural best, so we aim for a natural appearance which reduces and softens the appearance of existing wrinkles and assists in minimising the prevention of new wrinkles, while not making you look “fake” or “plastic”. Our service is discreet and confidential.

What brand of anti-wrinkle injections do you use?

Australian law prohibits the use of brand names being used in the advertisement of anti-wrinkle injections. At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we use two of the most common brand names of anti-wrinkle injections. Your safety and the safety of your loved ones is our highest priority, and we only use prescription medications approved for use by the therapeutic goods administration.

Are anti-wrinkle injections only for women? What about men?

We know that you want to look your natural best, so we aim for a natural appearance which reduces and softens the appearance of existing wrinkles and assists in minimising the prevention of new wrinkles, while not making you look “fake” or “plastic”.

Can treatment with anti-wrinkle injections be combined with other treatments?

Treatment with Dermapen® Facial-Needling may improve the results and duration of other treatments including anti-wrinkle injections. It is therefore common to include Dermapen® as part of an individualised treatment plan which includes anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. However, it is recommended that you have not had treatments with anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers for at least two weeks prior to treatment with Dermapen®.

If you have any questions regarding an individualised treatment plan which includes Dermapen®, feel free to discuss them with an Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine staff member at your initial consultation. Anti-wrinkle injections may also be combined with Photo-LED therapy, which may accelerate the healing and rejuvenation process and lead to faster, longer lasting results.

What are the risks of anti-wrinkle injections?

Although anti-wrinkle injections are a cosmetic procedure, it is important to understand that they are still medical procedures, and that some small risks exist, as for any medical procedure. The most common side-effect is a small amount of bruising around the injection site, especially in those who bruise easily. If bruising occurs most patients find that it can easily be covered by makeup until the bruise resolves, which takes a few days.

Another, much rarer side effect is ptosis (drooping eyelid). This may occur if the medication is injected into the incorrect muscle groups, or if it moves from the correct muscle groups into the incorrect muscle group.

This risk can be minimised by avoiding massage and deep pressure to the area, as well as refraining from activities which cause excessive sweating for twenty-four hours. If ptosis occurs it is likely to last for the full four-month duration of the medication effect. Allergic reactions are also possible after any medication injection, although the likelihood of this is small.

What should I do and what should I avoid after having treatment with anti-wrinkle injections?

After your treatment with anti-wrinkle injections, it is essential that you follow the instructions given to you by your doctor or nurse to minimise the chance of possible side-effects. You should not massage or apply any pressure to the area of injection for twenty-four hours following treatment.

You should not undertake any strenuous activity or activities which may cause excessive sweating for twenty-four hours. It is recommended to keep your head in an upright position (i.e. Not to lie down with your head flat) for four hours after treatment with anti-wrinkle injections.

How much do anti-wrinkle injections cost?

At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we realise that everybody has different areas of concern and different treatment goals, and we aim to treat everybody as an individual. The price of anti-wrinkle injections varies on the number of facial regions treated and the amount of solution injected. Your experienced doctor and nurse will be able to discuss your treatment plan and your goals with you during your free initial consultation.

I have seen cheaper prices elsewhere.

At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we do not compromise on quality and you can be guaranteed of the highest quality facilities, products and staff. It is important to remember that anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription-only medication, and should only be performed by highly trained doctor or nurse.

Unlike other clinics, where you may only see a doctor via an internet connection, at Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine every patient receives a full consultation with a medical doctor at our Melbourne skin clinic who will discuss the procedure and your suitability for anti-wrinkle injections.

Australian law prohibits the use of brand names being used in the advertisement of anti-wrinkle injections. At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we use two of the most common “brand names” of anti-wrinkle injections. One of these brands is more expensive per unit injected, however less units are required to achieve the same anti-wrinkle effect, so the price per treatment is very similar. This is another reason why it may seem that our prices per unit injected are more expensive.

Dr Simon Liubinas explains how anti-wrinkle injections work.

I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I have anti-wrinkle injections?

At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, your safety and the safety of your loved ones is our highest priority. Whilst our treatments have been studied extensively for both their safety and effectiveness, at Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine we follow the industry best-practice standards of not treating during pregnancy or during breast feeding.

I have a medical condition. Can I have anti-wrinkle injections?

At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine your safety is our highest priority. Unlike other clinics, where you may only see a doctor via an internet connection, at Evolve every patient receives a full consultation with a medical doctor or nurse who will discuss the procedure and your suitability for anti-wrinkle injections. There are a number of reasons why it may be safer to postpone your treatment with anti-wrinkle injections, or to not have have treatment at all.

These include, but are not limited to, a history of neurological diseases such multiple sclerosis (ms) or bell’s palsy. Some medications (for example, aspirin and warfarin) may lead to increased risk of bleeding and bruising, and it may be safer to avoid anti-wrinkle injections. Patients with skin infections or other skin diseases at the site of injection may have to postpone their treatment until the injection site is clear.

I am under 18 years of age. Can I have anti-wrinkle injections?

Although anti-wrinkle injections are a cosmetic procedure, it is important to understand that they are still medical procedures, and that some small risks exist, as for any medical procedure. At Evolve Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, it is our policy not to treat anyone under eighteen years of age with anti-wrinkle injections, even with parental or guardian consent.
