What should I do about intense abdominal pain after CoolSculpting?
I had CoolSculpting done on my abdomen yesterday, and I believe I am having an abnormal amount of pain. I’ve done a lot of reading and it seems there is usually mild discomfort three days after the procedure if people get any mild pain at all. However, I’ve been in bed in pain since the procedure yesterday. I have very high pain tolerance and during the procedure was not painful at all, which is why I’m so surprised I’m having this much pain. I don’t know how I’m going to go to work tomorrow.
I’m sorry to hear that you have had the result. Most people find that Coolsculpting is a very comfortable procedure, and even if they are mildly tender afterwards, they can usually manage with simple and mild pain killers such as paracetamol. That would be my first suggestion, along with heat packs and gentle massage to the area if you can tolerate it. Avoid painkillers such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as they can thin the blood and increase the chance of bruising. In some rare cases, Coolsculpting has been known to cause a nerve pain, which can feel like a burning or tingling sensation. It only lasts for a few days but can be uncomfortable. In these cases I usually advise the use of a medication for neuropathic pain for a short time. If your pain continues, please consult you Coolsculpting provider or local doctor for a prescription. Your Coolsculpting provider should be informed about this outcome so it can be properly documented and logged with Zeltiq.
